Inside Goodwill Open House and Tours

Join us at our Marion Goodwill Store & Distribution Center on Tuesday, March 26th from 11am-1pm for our Inside Goodwill event.

Inside Goodwill participants will follow the path taken by donated items as they move through the donation door to the employees who sort, tag & process them for sale.

Tour takers will meet key staff and gain insight into Goodwill’s impact on communities, the environment, and the economy. As part of our mission, Building Lives That Work, they will also hear testimonials from a few of the many individuals who have overcome hardships and challenges with Goodwill’s help.

“Though Goodwill has always prided itself on being open and transparent, relatively few people have personally viewed the inner working of this historic social enterprise,” said Bob Jordan, President & CEO of Marion Goodwill Industries. “Touring it is an amazing, eye-opening experience. What people see and hear on the tours will educate and inspire them.”

Hopefully at the end of the tour, you will be like many others and say "I didn't know Goodwill did that!"

Valentine's Day

By Felicia Czochanski

There’s a decluttering movement that’s sweeping across the nation. Families and individuals have started to open their eyes to the amount of clutter in their homes and as a direct result, their minds. People are starting to realize that having less means having more freedom and less to worry about. There’s just something about a minimalist lifestyle and living space that causes a serene, relaxed atmosphere – exactly the type of place you want to go after a long day of work.

Research has proven that minimalist living – a decluttered way of living – can impact one’s thoughts too, and provide clarity in all areas of one’s life. Why is it that many of us have overflowing closets and dresser drawers, shoe racks that don’t fit close to all of our shoes, yet we only wear the same few things over and over again? Why is it that we’re drawn to purchasing items that are on super sale, even when we don’t necessarily need them or know if we’ll ever have an occasion to wear them?

Girl Scouts Good Turn Day
Saturday, March 9th

Good Turn Day has become a community tradition between Goodwill and Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland.

Scouts do a Good Turn by collecting gently used items (such as clothing, books, shoes, purses) to bring to their local Goodwill and are honored with a “Good Turn” patch for participating. Your participation also helps make the general public aware of Goodwill’s mission and need for donations of quality gently used goods. Once items are received, they are processed and sold in Goodwill’s 9 retail stores to support its mission of helping people prepare for, find and keep jobs. Your donations also keep millions of reusable items out of local landfills, making your good turn also good for the environment.

Each scout is asked to collect 3 bags to donate. Participating locations include:

  • Marion Store – 1637 Marion Mt. Gilead Rd.
  • Delaware – 1135 Columbus Pike
  • Marysville – 15709 US RT 36 East
  • Galion – 753 Carter Dr.
  • Lewis Center – 123 Neverland Dr.
  • Powell – 9820 Brewster Lane
  • Sunbury – 149 St. Rt. 3
  • Westerville – 7107 Northgate Way
  • Mt. Gilead – 527 West Marion Rd.
