Our youth programs help guide youth on their way to becoming self-sufficient and productive adults in the Marion community. We assist young adults, ages 16 to 24, in developing the skills, attitudes, and commitment necessary to succeed in today's world of work.
Marion Goodwill partners with local schools to provide students with employment opportunities to gain valuable work experience while establishing a work history with local community employers. We are committed to investing in the success of youth. We strive to impact the lives of youth in a positive, direct, and productive manner by emphasizing the core values of hard work, team building, personal accountability, and services to others. Through these partnerships, youth are able to enhance their skill levels, gain self-confidence, increase their marketability, and increase the likelihood of future employment opportunities.
A job coach works closely with the youth and job site supervisors to ensure the youth receives adequate support and feedback through the course of the job program.
Summer Youth Program
The goal of the Summer Youth Program is to provide youth (ages 16-24) valuable work experience while earning a paycheck to help meet basic needs. The summer employment program offers the opportunity for youth to develop a work history and have a current reference from an employer. Goodwill is responsible for placing the youth at job-sites, as well as providing training, job coaching and mentoring.
The program continues to be a strong employment program for our youth as well as a great opportunity for local businesses. It provides businesses additional summer help and lets them evaluate and observe the youth before a potential job offer.
Job Readiness Training
Goodwill offers job readiness classes that prepare our youth for employment success. The classes are tailored to assist students with the beginning fundamentals needed for seeking and maintaining employment.
